OK, despite some poor reviews regarding the service and food, we decided to give this place a try simply because we were hungry for Mexican and it was close. Well, I should have listened to the other reviews. My family went in this past Saturday evening around 5:45. It appeared to be quite empty, which should have been a red flag....maybe 2 or 3 tables occupied. We seat ourselves at a table in the front as the sign directed. We get a highchair for our daughter ourselves since nobody has greeted us. We sit, and wait, and wait for anyone to acknowledge our existence. The 4 high school kids are hanging around the bar talking. One of them is texting. Another is having trouble with a customer's bill, is reprinting their receipt, and is having trouble with the paper roll. This goes on for 5, then10 minutes. By now, another couple comes in and sits down two tables away from us. Then another family comes in. Both were given menus, given chips and salsa, and orders taken as we continued to sit there waiting for any service. I try to flag one of the servers down. He looks at me and ignores us, instead taking the order of the table close to us. Finally, a young Brad Pitt look-alike walks over with a basket of chips and salsa and basically throws it on the table. The salsa dish rattles as it slowly settles it's roll into place. Never eye contact. Never a "hello, someone will be right with you" or a "sorry, thank you for waiting." No menus. No water. Nothing. Nada. My other two kids laugh at the ridiculousness. We sit another couple minutes. My older kids eat a few chips. Finally, I said "enough, lets get out of here. They don't want our business." Instead, we had a nice meal next door at the Mt. Airy Tavern. I have no idea how the food is at this Mexican high school hangout, but I can tell you that the service is horrible. Actually, even worse.......we didn't get ANY service. The owner of this establishment will need to get this staff a makeover and some training or they will never make it. Oh, and the high school chef might want to quit popping his head out of the little window looking into the dining room and maybe cook some food!

This review is a 3.5 but bumped to a 4 because the margaritas are good and the service is good. Average menu of food but the two entrees my wife and ordered tasted great. Rice and refried beans were good. I like this place, may come off as the typical bland moco mexican restaurant, but with the good margaritas, fresh food, and great service. i would reccomend this place.

You don't go for the ambiance, but the food is pretty decent with all the usual things you expect such as quesadillas, enchiladas, chimis, burritos and fajitas. Steak fajitas are one of my favorites there. Margaritas are usually potent. Service has always been fine. They need to do a better job of cleaning the floor (hint to the manager: get rid of the dark carpet). Not a destination place by any means, but perfectly adequate if you're in the area.

Yes this place is a whole-in-the-wall but its good typical cantina-style Mexican food. I love Mexican food so I'm very glad to have a restaurant like this close to home. Otherwise I'd be driving to Germantown's Mi Rancho which isn't that great a spot. Good enchiladas, good margaritas and surprisingly good and well cooked steak. I wish they made Coronaritas like they do at other Mexican restaurants but oh well. I liked that in the winter when it was crowded the hostess put us at a table far from the front door since we had a baby with us. We carry out when my husband doesn't want Mexican and I am having an enchilada craving. I love my enchiladas!

Not much going for this restaurant: - Not clean, carpet dirty - Food all so very salty and nothing fresh It's a shopping center whole-in-the-wall place, but that doesn't mean it's okay to be dirty and the food so uninspired. Yet another half-hearted attempt at a restaurant in Mount Airy. So sad. Maybe no one cares, food is food and since someone else had to cook it quality doesn't matter that much. Is this what the typical Mount Airy dining experience has to be?

I have been coming here since it opened and it is still so delicious. I love authentic mexican food and while this place is anything but authentic, the food itself is incredible.

Almost didn't eat here because of the reviews. Being in the Restaurant business, I know how subjective they can be, so we gave it a try. Food was good, as was the service. Glad we gave it a shot, and will return !

The food was average but the service was great. The food here was good for the east coast; I've been spoiled by eating great Mexican food while living in San Diego. The fried rice is good. It is the yellow kind and served without any veggies. The refried beans were ok. The corn tortillas were ok. This place is kid friendly and has sports on most of the 5-6 TVs. So I watched women's Olympic hockey while eating. It was an average experience, but we will be back due to the lack of better options in the Mt Airy area.

Food was good and was served quickly but the restaurant wasn't clean. The floor and chairs were full of tortilla crumbs and rice . Bathrooms were also dirty.

I've only been here once, and I doubt my husband and I will return. We both love Mexican, and honestly we didn't even expect this place to be GREAT, we would have settled for mediocre- but this was just disappointing. I just found the food very bland, meat tough, and everything seems to be reheated/over or under cooked/sub-par. Other than the food, the service was great, and my margarita was delicious. I would definitely consider coming here for a few drinks with some chips and salsa. Probably not much more than that (and honestly I have some other places I would prefer to take my happy hours). I do see this as probably being a great place for kids. Quick easy (though bland) dinner with an attentive waitstaff.

Great Mexican food, super margaritas, and you can't beat the price. This is one of the best deals in Mt Airy, MD.

This place was highly recommended by friends. Our first and last time here. Service was fine but food was nothing to brag about. Prices were high for the amount of food. The salsa came out of a can and the chips were generic brand corn chips!

All I can say is if you want legitamate food from latin american you would be better off driving to areas in montgomery county such as gaithersburg silver spring or wheaton. There are even some decent stops in the city of frederick but this siempre de fiesta is not really that great. I would say that theres nothing wrong like cold food or rude waiters but the food is just average and the menu misses many items that would make it better. It has items like steak fajitas and enchiladas which would please its entended customer base but now that theres a chipolte down the road I would recommend that instead.

The food was not too bad but you should not have to pay for extras like salsa pico de gallo maybe you could charge for it if you would actually give enough the first time like i said food was not to bad but the service is horrible trashy servers with attitude good thing i was with my family i would have caused a scene

Okay the tables are sticky the floor is messy and the place is packed. We've come back many times because the food is decent for the price. Basically fast food delivered to you and flavorful Mexican. We always get the combos numero oucho I think.... No these isn't Chef Ramsey Mexican but good old taco stand food with service! No complaints - well maybe the sticky tables :-) okay one more, how about plates for the chips and salsa, we are always dripping salsa on the table ie sticky tables....

Maragaritas are spot on here - good amount of alcohol yet flavorful, and they serve them in pitchers if you wish, as any self-respecting Mexican restaurant should. The Spicy Tortilla soup is a GREAT starter - the sliced jalapenos give it the perfect amount of heat. Speaking of heat, that might be my only issue with this place - not only is the food not spicy, but a FEW of the dishes are not particularly flavorful. Don't get me wrong - it's standard, well-prepared Mexican food which is why I gave four stars, but I have a hard time understanding a steak chimichanga that has NOTHING inside of it but steak. Literally. No salsa, no sauce, no tomatoes, no nothing. It was like eating a plain soft taco with steak only, void of any add-ons. All of that being said, there are other dishes here that do taste great, and the staff is always super nice, as are the patrons. Mt. Airy could do a lot worse. Check it out if you find yourself shopping at the neighboring TJ Maxx or Home Goods.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
